A climate-smart agribusiness project that converts organic waste into affordable animal, poultry, and fish feeds using Black Soldier Fly technology while promoting sustainable agriculture through organic frass fertilizer in Bunyala.

Current stage: Active program

The project aims to address high feed costs, poor waste management, and low farm productivity in Bunyala by using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) technology to convert organic waste into high-quality animal, poultry, and fish feeds. Based in Bunyala North, with a processing facility located at Sinyenye Omena Beach, the project benefits from easy access to raw materials from fish processing and market waste. In addition to feed production, the project promotes climate-smart agriculture through the use of BSF frass organic fertilizer to improve soil health and crop yields. The initiative will directly benefit fish cage farmers, poultry and livestock keepers, while creating employment opportunities for youth and women. By reducing environmental pollution and strengthening local livestock and aquaculture value chains, the project supports sustainable livelihoods and climate resilience in the region.
